Both Ivan Phelan and I had the fantastic opportunity to present the Christmas Lecture for The Institute of Engineering and Technology. The lecture, an introduction to Virtual Reality, gave a brief history of the technology, its current application and future potential uses.
The Institute's blog, covering the lecture along with the accompanying presentation slides, can be found here.
The audience ranged from veteran engineers from many different sectors, students and virtual reality hobbyists and this made for a fantastic and insightful evening for all.
Ivan Phelan is a research associate for games at Sheffield Hallam University and all around great guy. He is currently using Virtual Reality as a means of helping amputees to adapt to using their prosthetics. More details of this incredible application of Virtual Reality is featured here.
